Heat wave intensifies across country


With the mercury maintaining its upward trend, scorching heat has intensified across the country, says news agency UNB.Met office said a heat wave has been sweeping across the country, including capital Dhaka, for the last three days.In the capital, people, including the day-labourers and rickshaw-pullers, were seen working with difficulties amid the sweltering heat. Many preferred to remain indoors to avoid hot weather.

On the other hand, the heat brings scopes for extra-income for small vendors of sugarcane, lemon juice, cold drinks and coconuts.According to the Met office website, severe heat wave is sweeping over Kushtia region and mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna and Rajshahi divisions and the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Sayedpur, Dhaka, Tangail and Faridpur and it may continue and spread over adjacent areas.Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.Country’s highest temperature 40.3 degree Celsius was recorded on Sunday in Chuadanga.The highest temperature in Dhaka was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius till 6:00pm on Sunday.correspondent
