An activist of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was stabbed to death by some unidentified miscreants at Thutiapukur in Palashbari upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rustom Ali, a resident of the village.
Gopal Chandra, officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station, said Rustom was wanted in several cases filed with the police station. He had been absconding since long.
Abu Taleb, vice-president of Palashbari upazila unit Jamaat, said a group of unidentified miscreants attacked Rustom and stabbed him indiscriminately in the dead of night while he was returning home from the hideout after a long time, leaving him dead on the spot.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for an autopsy.
