Results of the combined medical and dental admission tests will be published by Monday with the government planning to complete the admissions this month, Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque has said.
While on a round of the test centres at Dhaka University on Friday, Haque said the test was held “properly and without any untoward incident”.
A total of 68,172 candidates vyed for 9,194 seats in public and private medical and dental colleges on Friday. The one-hour, 100-mark multiple choice questions (MCQ) exams were held from 10am to 11am at 23 centres across Bangladesh.
The students mainly compete for seats in the 22 government medical colleges having room for 2,812 candidates. The 54 private medical colleges offer 4,800 seats.
Besides these, 10 public dental colleges and medical college dental units have 532 seats, while 18 private dental institutes have 1,050 seats.
Director of the medical education at the Directorate General of Health Services ABM Abdul Hannan said admissions would be over within this month.
He said the government medical colleges would be the first to be filled, then the private institutes.
The test centres were off-limits to electronic devices such as wrist watches, calculators and mobile phones. Teams of government officials did their rounds, monitoring the test venues.-bdnews24.com
