JP backed Mayor candidate pledges graft-free DCC


Jatiya Party (Ershad) backed mayoral candidate (Dhaka South City Corporation) Saifuddin Ahmed yesterday made an 18-point election pledge including freeing the city from traffic congestion if he is elected.
He will also ensure adequate supply of gas, power and water to the city dwellers and he will present a clean city to them.
Saifuddin revealed his manifesto through a press conference in the city in presence of the party’s senior leaders.Other pledges of Japa backed aspirant include freeing Dhaka from mosquito menace, criminal activities, and extortion, removing water logging; turning the city clean by planting tress at every road islands.
He said for carrying out development activities, he will apply coordinated system among all the departments during digging of roads.
Saifuddin, who is also a well-established businessman however did not point out how he will materialise his pledges as city mayors in our country have little power to take decision freely to carry out development activities.
He assured that he will ensure interests of city dwellers who are living in rented houses.
The JP backed candidate also promised rehabilitation of vagabond people and free the city from beggars, ensure safe footpaths by pedestrians, specific fields or places for holding rallies in the city and to build a corruption free city corporation. – Staff Reporter
