Savar – The newly inaugurated Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib (BBFM) hall of Jahangirnagar University (JU), on Monday, organised a freshers’ reception on the campus.The hall authorities officially received its 820 residential students through the event held at the dormitory premises.
State Minister for Youth and Sports, Shree Biren Shikder as the chief guest, addressed the function while Provost of the dormitory Prof Dr. Tapan Kumar Saha was in the chair.
In his speech, Biren Shikder said, ‘Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was the perfect life-partner of Bangabandhu. She had great contribution to make him the supreme leader’.
‘Our country is not a poor one now. We turned self-dependent in food production. Nobody survives with hunger belly now. If we can manage continue this trend, our country will rise as a developed country by 2041, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’, he added.
In the meantime, he urged the youth to make resistance against the militant groups and raise awareness among the mass people against it.
JU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam, Pro VC (education) Prof Dr. Abul Hossain, Pro VC of Islamic University Prof Dr. Shahinur Rahman and JU Treasurer Prof Sheikh Manjurul Huq addressed the function as special guests among others.
The function concluded with a prize distribution segment among the winners of annual sports competition of the dormitory. – JU Correspondent
