Body of missing DBCCI president found in the Buriganga


Four days after he had gone missing, police recovered the body of Dutch Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) president Md Hassan Khaled from the Buriganga River on Tuesday afternoon.Sub-inspector of Keraniganj Model Police Station M Ilias Hossain said local people saw the body floating in the river in the morning and informed police.Later, a team of local police retrieved the body from Signboard Ghat around 12:05pm.

Ilias said they identified the dead as of Hassan Khaled seeing his business cards found in his pocket.Hassan, 55, also the chief executive officer of New Era Trading, went missing on Saturday morning after he had left home to buy medicine from a nearby shop.Later, a General Diary (GD) was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station in connection with the incident.Hassan, who completed his graduation from Dhaka University in the 80s, was the managing director of Kamico Bangladesh Ltd.A founder member of DBCC, Hassan also worked as a facilitator for enhancing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and the Netherlands.He had been residing on the third floor of a six-storey building in Dhanmondi over the last three years with his wife and a daughter.
