Dhaka, Sept 23 (UNB) – Although Mosaddek Hossain showed a brilliant performance, visiting Afghanistan defeated BCB XI by 66 runs in the one-day warm-up match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday.Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi’s 4 for 24 forced the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI to fold their innings at 167 for all in 38.1 overs while chasing a target of 234.
Mosaddek Hossain, who was picked up in the Tigers’ squad against Afghanistan for the first two matches of the three-match series as an uncapped player, manifested his batting consistency as in the DPL 2016 scoring match highest 76 off 97 balls that involved five
boundaries and three sixes,UNB News Agency Reported.Mohammad Nabi bowled out Mosaddek at 154/6 33.2 overs. Shuvagata Hom and Mehedi Hasan Miraz were two other batsmen who reached double figure with 34 and 15 runs respectively.Bangladesh faced an early jolt losing three top-order batsmen — Imrul Kayes (8), Anamul Haque (5) and Sabbir Rahman (9) — for a meager score of 23 in 6.4 overs. Liton Kumar Das (6) also failed to stay with Mosaddek in the 4th wicket stand.Miraz and Shuvagata stayed with Mosaddek for 56 in 10.5 overs and 59 in 9 overs respectively in 5th and 6th wicket stands.After Mosaddek’s departure at 154/6, BCB XI lost four batsmen –Alauddin Babu, Al-Amin, Shuvagata Hom and Abu Hider – for only 11 runs in the span of only 22 balls.Afghanistan frustrated the strong BCB XI lineup where there were eight international players with Mohammad Nabi’s 4 for 24 in eight overs while Fareed Ahmad and Rashid Khan took two wickets each for 19 and 25 runs respectively.Earlier, sent in to bat first, Afghanistan scored a moderate score of 233 for all in 50 overs, spurred by Hashmatullah Shahidi’s 69 off 96 balls, including five boundaries and one six.Number eight batsman Mirwais Ashraf stayed for unbeaten 32 off 19 balls featuring three boundaries and two sixes. Skipper Asghar Stanikzai and Rashid Khan added 31 and 30 runs respectively.Alauddin Babu and Mehedi Hasan Miraz bagged three wickets each for 32 and 48 runs. Abu Hider and Subashis Roy took two wickets apiece for 22 and 44 runs.Afghanistan will face Bangladesh national side in their first match of the three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday. The match will start at 2:30 pm.
