Mosque Imam arreted for ‘anti-state speech’ in Noakhali


Dhaka – A mosque imam in Bandatta area of Kabirhat upazila was arrested by police for delivering anti-state speech during the Friday Juma prayers, UNB news agency reported.The man was identified as Belal Hossain, 35, imam of Bandatta Jam-e Masjid hailing from Char Kalmi village in Companyganj upazila of Noakhali district.
Quoting musollis, officer-in-charge of Kabirhat Police Station Moktar Hossain said during his speech before the Juma prayers, Belal termed the government anti-Islamic and mentioning that Jews are running the country.
Referring to the recent incidents, he said such incidents are happening as those running the country are anti-Islamic, the OC said.
Later, devotees informed police who rushed in and arrested the imam.
