Rainfall helps T-Aman plantation in C’nawabganj


Due to adequate rainfall, the farmers have been cultivating Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) in the district comfortably. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said, getting adequate rain water in the paddy fields farmers have so far cultivated 68 percent land in the district.A total of 49,193 hectares of land were brought under T-Aman cultivation in five upazilas of the district this year with the production target of 1,27,575 tonnes of rice, DAE sources said.
Meanwhile, seedlings of T-Aman paddy have been planted on 33,405 hectares of land, the sources added.Deputy Director of DAE M Saiful Islam said the cultivation is likely to be completed within a week.He also said that in July there was 285 mm rainfall in the district and as a result, no irrigation was needed for the cultivation of lands.BSS, Chapainawabganj
