S Asian Music Festival ends on a high note

The South Asian Music Festival concluded yesterday at MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The four-day festival featured an array of timeless classical melodies by eminent and emerging vocal and instrumental maestros.

Four eminent Bangladeshi exponents — Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, Laisa Ahmed Lisa, Shama Rahman and Luva Nahid Choudhury performed songs of the five preeminent Bengali poets at the festival.

Living legends like Pt Birju Maharaj (kathak), Pt Shivkumar Sharma (santoor), Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia (flute), Dr L Subramaniam (carnatic violin) and Vidushi Bombay Jayashri (carnatic Vocal) also enthralled the audience with their performances.
