Motorcyclist killed in Tangail road crash
A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Madhupur upazila of Tangail district on Saturday night.
The accident took place around 11:00 pm last night at Kakraaid area on the Tangail–Mymensingh regional highway.
The deceased was identified as Abu Hanifa, 48, son of Badsha Mia of Dhampara Madhyapara area under Madhupur municipality, who was a banana cultivator by profession.
Witnesses and police said a speeding motorcycle coming from the Jalsotra direction crashed into the rear of a parked goods-laden truck in the Kakraid area, leaving the rider dead on the spot, reports UNB.
Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Fazlul Haque said preliminary findings suggest that the accident occurred due to excessive speed and lack of attention.
“The matter is under investigation and necessary legal action will be taken,” he said.
He also said that the body of the deceased has been kept at Madhupur Police Station and would be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
