Two killed, 4 injured in Jamalpur road accident

Two persons were killed and four others injured in a road accident on Jamalpur-Dewanganj road under Melandah upazila of the district this afternoon.


One of the deceased was identified as Monowara Begum, 50, wife of Majibar Rahman in Dewanganj upazila but the identity of the other deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, coming Jamalpur town with five passengers from Dewanganj, collided head-on with an engine-driven trolley at 1:45 pm in Betmari Taltola under Melandah upazila, leaving two women passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead and injuring four others on the spot, said ATM Mahmudul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Melandah Police 
Station. 

The injured were admitted at Jamalpur General Hospital, emergency unit on-duty doctor Ujjal Kumar Sarkar confirmed, reports BSS.

The wounded Majibar Rahman, 55, Jibon Miah, 35, Shafiqul Islam, 40 and Fatema Aktar, 52, are being treated at the hospital, he added.
