Two youths were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a tractor and a motorbike in Salamer More area of Goga Union in Sharsha upazila of Jashore district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Nahid Islam, 35, son of Jahangir Bhandari of Sujalpur village in Jashore Sadar upazila, and Usha Rahman, 30, son of Jamat Ali of Daulatpur village under Benapole Port Police Station.

Sharsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaminul Haque said three youths were travelling towards the border on a motorcycle around 9:00 am when a brick-laden tractor coming from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle, leaving Nahid and Usha dead on the spot.

Injured Rubel Hossain was rescued and taken to Jashore General Hospital for treatment.

Police later recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue.

OC Shaminul Haque said local people seized the tractor and handed it over to police while the driver and his assistant fled the scene, reports UNB.

Legal action is being taken, he added.
