Two young men were killed when their motorcycle fell into an under-construction culvert in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early Tuesday.

The deceased were Habibur Rahman, 20, son of Sadikul Islam, and Abul Hayat, 35, son of Zamir Uddin, both residents of Baliadighi village in the same union.

Shibganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Khokon Chandra said Habibur and Abul Hayat were returning from Kansat on a motorcycle.

At around 5:15 am, the motorcycle lost control while passing through the Muslimpur area in Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway and plunged into the under-construction culvert, leaving both riders critically injured, reports UNB.

Locals took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctors declared them dead.

Police later handed over the bodies to their families as there was no objection from the relatives, the police official said.
