Mother, 11-month-old son killed in Dinajpur road crash

A woman and her 11-month-old son were killed when a truck hit the motorcycle they were riding in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur on Tuesday.


The deceased were identified as Rumi Akhter, 22, wife of Mahmudul Hasan, and their son Nahiyan. They were residents of Jiakatal village in Nawabganj upazila.

Mahmudul and his another son were also injured in the accident.

Saiful Islam Sarker, officer-in-charge (OC) of Birampur Police Station, said the family was returning home from a relative’s house on a motorcycle.

Around noon, a truck hit their motorcycle, leaving all four family members injured.

Rumi and Nahiyan later died while undergoing treatment at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.

Mahmudul and his other son were admitted to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, reports UNB.

Police seized the truck and detained its driver, the OC said.
