Man dies after falling from BIRDEM Hospital building

A man died after falling from the roof of the 16-storey building of BIRDEM Hospital in the capital on Tuesday evening.


The deceased was identified as Dipu Sultan Rasel, 42, son of Imam Uddin and a resident of Rajab Ali Sardar Road in Kadamtali.

Md Nayeem, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ramna Model Police Station, said Rasel fell from the roof of the building at around 6:15pm.

On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued him.

He was later taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 11:30pm, where the doctor on duty declared him dead upon arrival, reports UNB.

SI Nayeem said the body had been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, he added.
