Couple killed in Gopalganj road accident

A couple was killed after being run over by a bus at Majhigati bus stand on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Kashiani upazila of the district this afternoon.


The deceased were identified as Solaiman Molla, 70, and his wife Shahida Begum, 60, residents of Deola area in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur district.

The couple got off a bus at Majhigati bus stand after travelling from Dhaka. While they were crossing the highway, a speeding bus ran over them and fled the scene, leaving them dead on the spot, said Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Later, the bodies were handed over to Bhanga Highway Police Station.

The bodies will be handed over to the family members after completion of legal procedures, reports BSS.
