Banani building blaze 'under control'

Dhaka, Aug 21 :  The fire, which broke out at a building in Chairmanbari in Dhaka's Banani area on Saturday morning, has been brought under control, officials said.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

MD Raihanul, station officer (media) of Fire Service and Civil Defense headquarters, said the blaze started at a warehouse on the second floor of the six-storey building around 9.10am and spread soon.

On information, as many 11 fire tenders rushed to the spot and later three units from the Bangladesh Army and the Navy joined the firefighting efforts. 

"The fire was finally brought under control around 1.05 pm, but is yet to be doused fully,"  Raihanul said.

Ananda TV's office is also housed in the same building.

However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials said, reports UNB.
