Two minor boys drown in Rangpur

Two minor boys drowned in a smaller pond in Milan Para area of Ward No-32 under Tajhat police station in Rangpur city this afternoon.

Local sources and police said the deceased were paternal cousins. 

"The deceased were identified as Rehan, 8, son of Jamir Uddin and Kaiyum, 9, son of Bhola Mian of the same area," local City Councilor of Ward No-32 Mahbub Morshed Shamim told BSS tonight.

Confirming the tragic incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tazhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Nazmul Quader said the boys went missing this afternoon while they were playing in their courtyard.

"But, they drowned in the nearby pond and local people recovered their floating bodies in the afternoon," the OC said.

The bodies were handed over to their respective relatives and an unnatural death case was filed in this connection with Tajaht police station tonight, reports BSS.
