Three persons were killed and several others injured in a fire that broke out following an explosion at a multi-storied building in the capital’s Science Lab area on Sunday .



Three persons were killed and several others injured in a fire that broke out following an explosion at a multi-storied building in the capital’s Science Lab area on Sunday (March 5) morning.
The fire originated on the third floor of the building at 10:50 am. On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at 11:13 am.
Ikram Ali Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station, confirmed the information.
The deceased were taken to hospitals for autopsy and they could not be identified immediately, the OC said.
Eight injured are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and five at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Miah confirmed the development.
Duty officer at Fire Service headquarters control room Khaleda Yasmin said a portion of the building partially collapsed following the explosion.
