522 killed in February road crashes

A total of 522 persons were killed and 795 injured in 507 road, rail and riverine accidents in February 2023.



A total of 522 persons were killed and 795 injured in 507 road, rail and riverine accidents in February 2023, according to Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (JKS).

Besides, motorcycles were involved in 154 accidents, leaving 159 dead and 82 injured last month, the organisation said in a press release on Tuesday (March 7).

During the period, 39 people were killed and seven wounded in rail-related accidents, while 16 people were killed, 27 injured and 15 went missing in 14 riverine accidents, it added.

The organisation presented the data in a statement based on media reports.

The statement signed by its secretary general Md Mozammel Huq Chowdhury was sent to media.
