Seven people, including six children, drowned in Rajshahi, Chuadanga, Kurigram, Chandpur and Pirojpur districts on Tuesday.

In Rajshahi, two children drowned in a pond at Hetemkhan area in the city on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were Ananta, 6, son of Gobinda, and Nirjhar, 9, son of Niren, -- both residents of Hetemkhan area under Boalia Police Station in the city.

Boalia Police Station officer-in-charge Sohrawardy Hossain said the children drowned while taking a bath in a pond adjacent to Hetemkhan cemetery around 11:30 am.

In Chuadanga, two minor children drowned in a pond at Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district on Tuesday noon.

The deceased were identified as Sihab, 7, son of Tariqul Islam and Hussain, 8, son of Habir, -- both residents of Iswarchandra village under Darshana municipality of the upazila.

Darshana Police Station officer-in-charge Ferdous Wahid said the duo drowned in a pond while taking bath. They were taken to local hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

In Chandpur, a three-year-old child slipped into a pond near to her house at Faridganj upazila in the district at around 11 am on Tuesday.

Family members of the deceased rescued the child and took to Faridganj Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared her dead

The deceased was identified as Tanjina Manha, 3, was daughter of Tajul Islam, a resident of Chowmukha area under Dakshin Paikpara union of the upazila.

In Kurigram, a six-year-old minor child drowned in a pond at Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram district on Tuesday noon.

Kachakata Police Station officer-in-charge Golam Mortoza said the child went to the pond to take bath after finishing his school without informing family members. He was taken to local hospital where he was declared as dead.

Deceased Iman Ali, 6, was son of Motiur Rahman, a resident of Baher Kedar Nolduba village under Kedar union of the upazila. He was a first grader of Bhatikedi Government Primary School.

In Pirojpur, a teenage boy died being drowned in Sondha river adjacent to his house at Kawkhali upazila of Pirojpur district on Tuesday noon.

Deceased Mohidul Islam, 17, was son of Tarikul Islam, a resident of Chirapara village under the upazila.

According to the deceased's family members, he was suffering from epilepsy for a long time. He went to the river to take bath and drowned there. He was taken to Kawkhali Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Dr Tawfik Hossain Sourav, on-duty doctor of the upazila health complex confirmed the matter.
