Two go missing in Netrakona boat capsize

Two persons went missing as a boat capsized into the midstream of the Kangso River near the Mucerbari Ferrighat in Durgapur upazila .



Two persons went missing as a boat capsized into the midstream of the river Kangso near the Mucerbari Ferrighat in Durgapur upazila in Netrakona  district Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the boat with 25-26 passengers on board sank into the river due to strong current of the river. Immediately after the incident, most of the passengers swam to ashore, but two persons went missing.

Durgapur Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Shibirul Islam said the boat was proceeding towards Nutun bazer area of Durgapur upazila from Jamdola bazer of Purbadhala upazila.

A team of fire service personnel from Netrakona Fire Service Station rushed to the scene and continued rescue operation, he added.
