Three killed, 30 injured in Cumilla road mishap

At least three people have been killed and 30 others injured after a bus crushed an easybike and fell into a roadside ditch at Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla.



At least three people have been killed and 30 others injured after a bus crushed an easybike and fell into a roadside ditch at Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla district.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Zinglatoli area on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Rufia Begum, 65, Fazilatunnesa Achia, 68, and Sumaiya Akter, 25, residents of Barpara village in the upazila.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Daudkandi Highway Police Station officer in-charge Abu Selim Reza said a Noakhali-bound bus crushed an easybike and fell into a ditch after its driver had lost control over the steering.

Three easybike passengers died on the spot in the accident and 30 others from both vehicle sustained injuries.

On information, police recovered the bodies and brought those to the police station.

Legal steps in this regard are under process, the OC added.
