Truck-pickup van collision leaves 3 dead in Mymensingh

The deceased were identified as pickup-van driver Kamrul Islam, 22, son of Abdul Latif, Abdul Kadir, 45, son of Usan Ali and Mizanur Rahman, 48, son of Ramjan, hailing from Haluaghat upazila.



Three people were killed in a collision between a truck and a pickup-van in Taldighi area on Mymensingh-Sherpur road under Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as pickup-van driver Kamrul Islam, 22, son of Abdul Latif, Abdul Kadir, 45, son of Usan Ali and Mizanur Rahman, 48, son of Ramjan, hailing from Haluaghat upazila of the same district.

Police and locals said, the Sherpur-bound truck collided with the Mymensingh-bound pickup-van coming from the opposite direction in the morning, leaving the driver dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

Later, police and fire service personnel recovered the body and sent the injured to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where physicians declared them dead upon arrival.

Wazedul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Tarakanda Police Station said they seized both the vehicles but the trucker managed to flee.
