Autorickshaw-pickup collision leaves 2 dead in Sirajganj



Sirajganj, May 08 -The driver and a passenger of a CNG-run autorickshaw were killed and two others sustained injuries as it collided with a pickup truck in Sirajganj's Ullapara upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Gafur, 55, auto-rickshaw driver of Charia Shika Mathpara village of Ullapara upazila, and Nazrul Islam, 47, a passenger of the auto-rickshaw and son of Abdul Mannan of Dhopakandi village of the same upazila.

The accident occurred around 10 in the morning when the Shahzadpur-bound auto-rickshaw collided with the pickup truck coming from the opposite direction at Brommokapalia area on Nagarbari-Bogura highway, Md Abdul Wadud, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station said.

Gafur died on the spot and Nazrul died on the way to the hospital, said the OC, adding that the injured were admitted to Ullapara Upazila Health Complex.

On information, police recovered the bodies and brought them to the police station.-UNB
