2 Dhaka College Students Killed by Speeding Vehicle

Two Dhaka College students were killed when a fast-moving, heavy cargo vehicle hit them near the Gomti-Meghna Bridge on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highwayin Chandpur on Thursday night.


The deceased have been identified as Tanvir Hossain Roni, son of Delwar Hossain from Palgiri village, and Zahid Hasan Zipu, son of Dulal Mia from the same village. They were maternal cousins.

According to Mostafizur Rahman, their relative, both Tanvir and Zipu were twelfth-grade students at Dhaka College. They were traveling by motorcycle from Dhaka to Kachua when, upon reaching the Pakhi Mor Bridge in the Gazaria area, a heavy cargo vehicle coming from the opposite direction suddenly hit their bike, throwing them onto the road around 10:30pm.

Highway police reported that the heavy cargo vehicle ran over Roni’s abdomen and Zipu’s leg. Roni died on the spot, while Zipu was taken to the Gouripur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Riad Hossain of Bhoberchar Highway Police Station confirmed the incident.

The bodies were handed over to their families at around 3 AM after completing the legal procedures, said the SI.

Their burial took place on Friday morning at 9:15 AM at their family graveyard in Palgiri village, which was shrouded in sorrow.
