A female student at Jahangirnagar University (JU) tragically died after being struck by a battery-powered auto-rickshaw on campus Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, Afsana Rachi, a first-year student in the Marketing Department (53rd batch), was crossing a road near the new Arts Building when the vehicle hit her. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact caused severe injuries, and she was immediately rushed to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Afsana succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead around 7:30 PM by Dr. Rakib Al Mahmud, the attending physician.

JU Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed that the university administration is actively working to identify the rickshaw driver. "We have already initiated steps to seize the vehicle and are committed to bringing the responsible party to justice," he stated.

The tragic incident has shocked the university community, and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
