Three killed in road accident in Naogaon

Three people were killed in a tragic accident when a truck collided head-on with a motorcycle in the Bankapur area of Mandah Upazila, Naogaon, on Tuesday afternoon.


The deceased have been identified as Shakil Hossain, son of Majed Ali from Fazilpur village in Mahadebpur Upazila; Zahidul Islam, son of the late Abdul Latif from Kalushahar village; and Nur Alam, a resident of Satihat in Mandah Upazila. All three victims were supporters for the students' movement

According to police and local sources, the three victims were returning home on a motorcycle after completing their work when the motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding truck. Shakil Hossain died on the spot, while Zahidul Islam and Nur Alam were critically injured.

Locals rushed them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries, reports UNB.

Munshur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mandah Police Station, confirmed the incident and said that Shakil Hossain’s body was recovered from the scene. The bodies will be handed over to their families after legal formalities. The truck involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver and his accomplice had already fled the scene.
