Driver, helper killed in Dinajpur road crash

A truck driver and his helper were killed early Wednesday morning when a truck crashed into a stationary truck on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Dinajpur's Ghoraghat upazila.


The deceased were Ismail Hossain, 60, a resident of Sherpur in Bogura and his helper Babu Mia, 25.  

Witnesses said the paddy-laden truck collided with the stone-laden stationary truck while it was heading towards Bogura around 5 am, leaving the driver of the paddy-laden truck dead the spot.

Critically injured Babu Mia was rushed to Ghoraghat Upazila Hospital.

Later, he was referred to Bogura's Shaheed Zia Medical College Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Sub-Inspector Sabbir of Ghoraghat Police Station said the driver of the parked truck fled the scene after the accident along with the vehicle.
