5 Killed in Bus Crash at Dhaka-Mawa Expressway Toll

According to fire service officials, the Bepari Paribahan bus first struck a car that had just arrived at the toll plaza, completely crushing it. The bus then rear-ended a microbus and ran over a motorcycle, which was also part of the queue. The horrifying footage shows the bus plowing into the car, followed by the motorcycle being crushed and the microbus hit from behind.

One of the passengers in the car died instantly, while the other four victims succumbed to their injuries as they were being rushed to Dhaka for medical attention. Dewan Azad, an official from the Sreenagar Fire Service Station, confirmed the death toll.

At the time of the incident, the vehicles had been waiting in a queue at the toll plaza. Witnesses and officials at the scene expressed shock that the bus driver did not appear to slow down or apply the brakes before hitting the vehicles, though the exact cause of the crash is still unclear. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Hasara highway police Officer-in-Charge Abdur Kader Jilani stated that efforts to clear the wreckage and reopen the expressway were ongoing. Authorities warned that the death toll could rise as more details emerge.
