Shariatpur, Mar 13 —The bodies of two workers who went missing after a bulkhead sank in the Padma River in Shariatpur's Naria have been recovered after nearly 40 hours.

The deceased were identified as Al Amin and Arif.

Members of the private diving team, Onusandhan Oxygen Board from Pirojpur district, recovered the bodies of the missing workers from the sunken bulkhead cabin.

They conducted a dive to a depth of 130 feet, successfully retrieving the bodies around 4pm on Thursday after approximately three hours of effort.

Earlier, the Fire Service and BIWTA diving teams had carried out official rescue operations for 18 hours over two days. While they located the sunken bulkhead, they were unable to recover the bodies.

After they announced the closure of their rescue operations, the relatives of the missing workers, along with project workers, arranged for the Onusandhan Oxygen Board team to continue the search at their own expense.

The upazila administration later handed over the bodies to the relatives of the victims.

Md. Aminul Islam, Naria Upazila Nirbahi Officer, said that the families of the two victims will receive assistance in accordance with government regulations. - UNB
