A man and his son were killed, and three others sustained injuries in a collision between a human hauler and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Pabna's Santhia upazila on Friday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Azizul, 40, and his son Abu Huraira, 3, from the Faizuri area of Sreepur in Pabna Sadar upazila. The identities of the injured individuals have not been immediately confirmed.

The accident occurred around 2 pm in the Hatbaria area of Nandanpur on the Sathia-Pabna regional road.

Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Santhia Police Station, said that the CNG-powered autorickshaw was traveling from Santhia to Pabna, while the human hauler was headed in the opposite direction, towards Santhia. When the vehicles reached the spot, the human hauler (Nasimon) and the autorickshaw collided head-on, leaving five passengers in the autorickshaw were seriously injured.

Locals rescued the injured and transported them to Pabna General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared two of them dead.

He further mentioned that the injured are currently undergoing treatment.

The driver and helper of the autorickshaw fled the scene after the incident.

However, the autorickshaw has been seized, and legal action will be taken against the suspects.
