Two individuals were killed when a moving train dragged their motorbike as they tried to cross a level crossing in Puthia upazila, Rajshahi, on Wednesday evening.

The victims were identified as Mizanur Rahman, 33, and Zahurul Islam, 35, both residents of Chandpur Bazar in Natore Sadar upazila.

Faisal Bin Ahsan, officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Rajshahi, reported that the accident occurred at the Belpukur level crossing just before 5:45 pm when the Panchagarh-bound Banglabandha Express was approaching from Rajshahi.

"An iron bar had been lowered at the crossing as the train approached, but the men attempted to cross on their motorbike. The train struck the bike, dragging it away and killing both men instantly," he said.

The bodies were later returned to the families after legal procedures. An unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident, the OC confirmed.
