Two motorcycle co-riders were killed and two others, including motorcyclist, injured last night in a tragic road accident in the Dholvanga Bazar area in Sadullapur upazila of the district.

The victims were identified as Koushik Ahmed, 22, son of Arif Mondal, of Bishnupur village under Mohodipur Union in Palashbari upazila and Srabon, 23, son of Sada Miah of Shyampur village in the same upazila.

According to police, the accident took place around 10pm on Thursday on the Gaibandha-Palashbari Road. Four youths were riding together on a motorcycle towards Palashbari upazila town. When they reached Dholvanga Bazaar, they lost control while overtaking a loaded truck and hit the railing of a bridge. Two co-riders, Koushik and Srabon, were thrown from the motorcycle and were run over by the truck, dying on the spot.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex. They were later referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, reports BSS.

Julficar Ali Bhutto, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palashbari Police Station, confirmed the incident, adding that the truck was seized. But the driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
