Five members of a family including two women sustained severe burn injuries in a fire reportedly from a gas cylinder blast in Ashulia on Wednesday morning.

The injured were Jewel, 24, Shanto, 21, Haowa Akter, 40, Jahurul, 26, and Jahanara, 40, residents of Faridpur district.

Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station Kamal Hossain said the blast occurred on the second floor of a house near a garment factory in Narsingpur area in the morning.

Initially, they were taken to Ashulia Women and Children Hospital and later shifted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery as their conditions worsened, he said.

Police and fire service personnel visited the spot as the walls of the house were badly damaged in the explosion, reports UNB.
