Two motorcyclists killed in Meherpur road crash

Two motorcycle riders were killed in a road accident in front of the Forest Department of the district town here this morning.


The deceased were identified as Mahafuzur Rahman Kallol, 48, son of Hasan Ali, a resident of Gaharpur village in Sadar upazila and also an assistant engineer of Gangni Upazila Public Health Department and HSC examinee Akmal Hossain, 20, son of Abdus Samad of Sheikhpara in Meherpur town.

The accident took place around 10.30 am when two motorcycles collided head-on in the area while overtaking a private car, leaving both the bike riders critically injured on the spot, said Mesbah Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Station, reports BSS. 

They were rescued and taken to Meherpur General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared both of them dead, the OC added.
