Chattogram, Nov 14 — Two madrasa students were killed and two others injured when a motorcycle struck them in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram on Friday evening.

The accident occurred around 6:30 pm on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, about 200 yards north of Chhararkul on the Dhaka-bound Lane. The deceased are Fakhrul Islam, 14, a seventh-grade student of Masjidia Yunusia Noiduya Madrasa, and Kawsar Hossain, 11, a fifth-grade student of the same madrasa. Fakhrul was the son of Dulal Mia of Hatiya in Noakhali, and Kawsar was the son of Abdul Qader of Bariyarhat in Mirsharai.

The injured students, Arman and Muslim Uddin, were also from the madrasa. They were first taken to a private hospital in Bortakia Bazar and later referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Police and eyewitnesses said the four madrasa students were walking along the west side of the highway toward a religious gathering at Kajirhat in Mayani Union when a motorcycle, pushed by a truck, hit them. Fakhrul and Kawsar died on the spot, while the others were injured.

Kumia Highway Police Station OC Mohammad Zakir Rabbani confirmed the deaths and injuries and said the motorcycle rider has been detained. - UNB
