5 killed as bus hits covered van in Chattogram

Five people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus crashed into  a stationary covered-van on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Battala in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district on Sunday.


The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Shahadat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kumira Highway Police, said the accident occurred around 6 pm when the bus of ‘CDM Paribahan’ crashed into the covered van, leaving four people dead on the spot and 21 others injured.

Among the injured,  one died on the way to Sitakunda Health Complex.

On information, a firefighting unit and police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation, reports UNB.
