Four people were killed and another was injured when a sand-laden truck lost control and overturned at a village market in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred at local Jhalmalia Bazar where banana trading was underway.

However, the identities of the victims are yet to be determined.

Quoting witnesses, Puthia Fire Service said the truck veered off the road and hit a group of people who were engaged in banana trading around 7:40am, leaving four people dead on the spot and another injured, reports UNB.

The injured was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

On information, two rescue teams from Puthia and nearby Natore Fire Stations rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, they said.

Inspector (investigation) of Puthia Police Station Bari Munshi said the bodies would be sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and handed over to their families later.
