Motorcycle crash kills school student in Narail

A school student was killed and another person critically injured in a road accident in the SM Sultan Bridge area of the district on Sunday night after a motorcycle lost control.


The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan ,17 , a student of Narail Government Technical School and College and an SSC examinee this year. He was the son of Moniruzzaman of Perli-Shitalbati village under Kalia upazila of the district.

Mehedi used to live with his family at the Mahishkhola Puratan Ferryghat area of Narail town.

According to police and eyewitnesses, Mehedi was returning home from Gobra riding a motorcycle around 8:00 pm. When he reached the SM Sultan Setu area over the Chitra River, the motorcycle lost control and crashed into a van, leaving Mehedi and a van passenger, Imran, critically injured.

Local people rescued the injured and rushed them to Narail District Hospital, where the on-duty doctor at the emergency department declared Mehedi dead, reports BSS. 

Officer-in-Charge of Narail Sadar Police Station Md Oli Mia said the body would be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
