One killed in Gopalganj road crash

An elderly man was killed after being run over by a brick-laden trolley in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.


The deceased was identified as Machem Molla, 75, a resident of the Gopinathpur Sharifpara area of the upazila.

The accident occurred in front of the Gopinathpur Sharifpara Filling Station on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. According to local sources, Molla was crossing the busy highway when a trolley loaded with bricks ran over him, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him before taking him to Gopalganj Medical College and Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital's emergency department declared him dead upon arrival.

Inspector Mominul Islam of the Gopinathpur Investigation Center in Sadar upazila confirmed the incident. He said necessary legal steps were being taken in this regard, reports BSS.
