BNP leader Md Rashed Khan has been appointed as the political assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman with the rank of secretary.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Sunday announcing the appointment, which was signed by Deputy Secretary Md Golam Rabbani on behalf of the President.

According to the notification, Rashed Khan has been appointed on a contractual basis as the Prime Minister’s political assistant with secretary status, effective from the date he joins the office.

His tenure will remain valid for the duration of the Prime Minister’s term or until the Prime Minister decides otherwise, whichever comes earlier.

The notification stated that before taking charge, he must sever any professional, business or employment ties with government, semi-government, private institutions or organisations.

The terms and conditions of his appointment will be finalised through a separate contract, according to the order issued in the public interest.

Sharing the appointment notification on Facebook, Rashed Khan expressed gratitude for being given the responsibility and thanked Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman for the trust placed in him.

He said he hoped to carry out his duties with sincerity and dedication while seeking cooperation and support from all.
