Stating that everyone will be happy with the amendment of the Digital Security Act (DSA), Law Minister Anisul Huq said that the draft amendment of the Digital Security Act will be presented in the National Parliament next September.

He said a decision has been taken to amend the Digital Security Act. However, the minister did not say what is being amended.

The Minister said this after a meeting with a delegation led by the European Union (EU) Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore, at the Secretariat on Tuesday (July 25) afternoon.

In response to the questions of the journalists in this regard, the minister said, you have to wait a little for this (amendment). Your concerns are very important to the government. All I can say is that you all will be happy with the amendment of the Digital Security Act.

Eamon, who arrived in Dhaka on Monday on a six-day visit, will hold meetings with government officials and other stakeholders on human rights issues.

This is Eamon Gilmore’s second visit to Bangladesh in four years as EU Special Representative for Human Rights. He visited Bangladesh for the first time in June 2019. In the statement given at the end of the visit, Eamon Gilmore urged development in various areas of human rights, including labour rights, in Bangladesh.
