Govt bans carrying, displaying firearms till January 9

Ahead of the 12th parliamentary elections slated for January 7, the Home Ministry has imposed a complete ban on licence holders from carrying and displaying firearms till January 9.

The decision was taken to conduct the upcoming national elections "in a free, fair, and peaceful manner", said the notification.

"Action would be taken against the violators according to The Arms Act 1878," it added.
