Dhaka, Sept 24 – The government has published the draft list of 708 people, who were killed in the student-led mass upsurge in July and August.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) published the draft list on Tuesday.
This list is available on www.hsd.gov.bd and www.dghs.gov.bd.
The list will be available on the website from September 23, 2024 to October 6, 2024, said the notice signed, by the deputy secretary Umme Habiba.
According to the notice, members or heirs or representatives of the deceased families have been requested to verify, correct, complete the names, addresses and other relevant information published in the list.
If anyone has any opinions, suggestions and any new information to be added about the published list, they are requested to inform the concerned hospital or the nearest government hospital receiving the service.
To get the details of the deceased, members or heirs or representatives of the deceased family will have to register with National Identity Card (NID) or Birth Registration and Mobile Number.
After registration, the information of the deceased person should be downloaded and printed.
Printed paper fields that do not contain information should be filled, it said.
If you go to the concerned hospital or the nearest government hospital with the filled information, the concerned institution will help in correcting the information.
The person in charge of the organization will update the information online by submitting the form filled by the deceased family member or heir or representative.
Whether the information submitted is properly inserted or corrected can be re-verified by entering the website, said the notice.
If the names of any of the deceased of the recent anti-discrimination student movement are not included in this list, then the family members/heirs/representatives of the deceased are requested to contact the concerned Deputy Commissioner, Civil Surgeon, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer with appropriate evidence.
The list was made from the reports collected from different government and private hospitals during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Earlier on September 9, Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmin S. Murshid said the work on creating a comprehensive database of students and citizens injured or killed during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement is in its final stages.
“The database, which will detail the number of casualties and injuries, as well as the condition of the affected families, is nearly complete. It will be finalized after verification with information from the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities. We plan to release this data next month,” Adviser Murshid said. - UNB
