A total of 1,896 candidates have been appointed to various cadres in the revised 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) list, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday. This update excludes 168 candidates who had previously been recommended by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC).

The revision brings several adjustments to the cadre appointments. In the administration cadre, the number of appointees was reduced from 293 to 267. Similarly, the police cadre now includes 88 appointees, down from 96, while the foreign affairs cadre saw a decrease from 25 to 22 appointments.

The newly appointed candidates are required to report to their respective offices under the controlling ministries by January 15. They will then undergo basic training at the Public Administration Training Center or other designated government institutions, followed by specialized training tailored to their specific roles.

According to the notification, the appointees will serve a two-year probationary period. During this time, their performance will be closely monitored, and candidates who fail to meet the required standards may be dismissed without prior notice or consultation with the PSC.

The original results of the 43rd BCS, published by the PSC on December 26 last year, had recommended 2,805 candidates for recruitment, including 2,163 for cadre positions and 642 for non-cadre roles. Previously, on October 15, the government had appointed 2,064 candidates based on the PSC’s recommendation, nearly ten months after the initial results were announced.
