The committee formed to review applications of deprived retired government officials has submitted its second report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Committee convener and former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan handed over the report at the Chief Adviser’s Office.

The five-member body, comprising representatives from the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Public Administration, the Finance Division, and the Law and Justice Division, carried out the review in two phases.

In its first phase, the committee examined cases of deputy secretaries and above, submitting its findings on 10 December 2024. The second phase focused on cadre officers, other than administration cadre, holding 3rd grade or higher posts.

A total of 318 applications were received, of which 108 were either incomplete or outside the committee’s jurisdiction. The remaining 210 applications were reviewed across 14 meetings.

After detailed scrutiny, the committee recommended promotions for 78 officers with retrospective effect—12 to Grade-1, 32 to Grade-2, and 34 to Grade-3. Among them, six were proposed for three-step promotions, 17 for two steps, and 55 for one step.

However, 132 officers were not recommended for promotion, with specific reasons recorded in each case.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser M Siraz Uddin Miah was also present during the submission.
