Patuakhali: Farmers withdrew from human bonding program on the promise of UNO's opening government canals. Today Thursday (May 11) at 11 am Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain of Patuakhali assurance to open the Badurtali canal, while farmers formed human chain in front of Upazila Parishad. Later the farmers have expressed their satisfaction with the assurance of fulfilling the demands, hundreds of farmers who participated in the human chain program led by the UP Chairman. Tiakhali UP Chairman Md. Mahmudul Hasan Sujan Molla said.

According to sources, Badurtali canal of Tiakhali Union has been occupied by the influential Hiron Sikdar, Ismail member including 15 people for a long time and have been cultivating fish through the dam.

Due to this, farmers cannot use fresh water for agricultural work during the cultivation season. Apart from this, farmers are unable to feed water to livestock with house work. The aggrieved farmers organized a human chain program at 11 am on Thursday to demand the opening of the Badurtali canal. UP Chairman Sujan Molla, farmers Ripon Faraji, Babul Talukder, Farooq Howlader, Khalek Howlader, Rafiq Howlader, Razzaq Sharif and others spoke highlighting the interests of the farmers.

Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain said, according to the government's decision, no government canal will be leased.For the benefit of farmers all canals including  Badurtali canals will be opened up.

Tahlisdar, Kanungo has been instructed to remove the dam. Pakhimara canal has already been opened for the benefit of farmers. - Gofran Biswas Palash
