Winter vegetable input distribution programme at Ramu Upazila on Sunday.

In Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, the distribution of agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, seeds, and hybrid Boro rice seeds, to farmers was held on Sunday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. under the 2024-25 rehabilitation and incentive program aimed at increasing agricultural production at the farmers’ training hall of Upazila Agriculture office.
The event was presided over by Tanzila Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer of Ramu.
Under the 2024-25 rehabilitation and incentive program, designed to increase agricultural production, various agricultural inputs such as winter seeds for improved and hybrid vegetables, fertilizers, cash, seeds for Rabi crops, and fertilizers for mustard, peanuts, fallow lands, and hybrid Boro seeds were distributed to 810 small and marginal farmers.
The Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Ramu Upazila, Sajjad Zahid Ratul, attended the program as the chief guest. Special guests included Agriculture Extension Officer Sushanta Debnath, Assistant Agriculture Extension Officer Khorshed Alam Khandaker, and Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer Md. Mamunul Haque.
Farmers from all unions of the upazila attended the program. Chief guest Assistant Commissioner Sajjad Zahid Ratul emphasized the need for boosting winter vegetable cultivation to increase food production, advocating for the cultivation of vegetables and mustard on uncultivated fallow lands.
Ramu Upazila Agriculture Officer Tanzila Rahman in her speech urged the farmers to increase production and benefit economically by cultivating early vegetables, Rabi crops, and mustard on temporarily fallow lands in order to recover from the crop damaged caused by the flood. She expressed her hope that farmers would contribute to meeting the country’s food demand and help fulfill the need for edible oil through mustard cultivation.
